Cedar Nordbye: Construction Cru
January 19 - February 26, 2005

Curator: Gaëtane Verna

The exhibition is produced by the Foreman Art Gallery with a financial contribution from the Canada Council for the Arts through their Artist in the Community Program.

For American visual artist Cedar Nordbye, ideas of geography, displacement, immigration, and transmigration are all part of his artistic concern. Interested in alternative ideas of community and fascinated by the channels of communication, he makes art that revolves around discussions and arguments. In this three-phase interactive project, Nordbye will meet with members of the Lennoxville-Sherbrooke community and partake in discussions revolving around the particularities of the community and the communication that ensues between certain groups. This exhibit will show the works that result from these interactions. Nordbye will then invite workshop participants to include their own comments on the works alongside his in order to complete the circle of communication and interpretation.
