May 7 - June 28, 2008

Artist: Sylvie Bouchard (Montréal, Canada)

Curator: Vicky Chainey Gagnon

Every year, the Gallery organizes an exhibition on themes and issues of regional relevance. This year’s Carte Blanche exhibition will present a new site specific installation inspired by the university’s natural landscape by prominent Québec artist Sylvie Bouchard.

Sylvie Bouchard is an artist living and working in Montreal. She studied visual arts at the University of Ottawa and philosophy at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Since the early 1980s, Bouchard has established herself as a dynamic contemporary and has exhibited extensively throughout Quebec and Canada in venues such as: the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (Québec, Canada), Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (Montreal, Quebec), Southern Alberta Art Gallery (Lethbridge, Canada), Mackenzie Art Gallery (Saskatoon, Canada), Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Ontario), Musée d’art de Mons (Mons, Belgium), and the Musée des Augustins (Toulouse, France).
