Celebrating its 20 years of existence, the Foreman Art Gallery inaugurates 2018 with a federative project that nods to the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve and astrophysics research carried out in the region. Parallax-e probes the oblique perspectives brought to bear on the discipline of astronomy by contemporary artists. The exhibition explores the emergence of a new astronomical sublime informed by advances in optical and digital technologies, scientific projections and evolving aesthetic conventions. Put into conversation, the works presented highlight the interplay of technology, aesthetics and politics in the unfolding of our cosmological consciousness.

Presented in tandem with Videotank #17: Nancy Holt, Parallax-e is part of the Social Currents series, which addresses important issues in contemporary society.
